Verdie Mae Gilpin Clark went home to be with Jesus on July 5, 2023, at her sister’s home in Lake City. She was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Perry to LE Gilpin and Callie Mae Gunter Mills. Verdie was a devout Christian and loved gospel music. She was a loving and understanding wife and mother who loved cooking for her family and making treats for her children. She loved the color purple and had a hug that could warm you on the coldest of days. She is survived by: her three children, Bruce Denmark (Michelle) of Ten Mile, Tenn., Sonja Denmark Greene of Ormond Beach and Greg Denmark (Mel) of Silver Springs; seven grandchildren, Brittany Ruffner (Isaiah), Jeffrey Sadler (Christina), Ashly Denmark, Lindsey Rowland (Jake), Devin Sadler, Haley Denmark and Dalton Denmark; two brothers, Ed Gilpin and Martin Mills, both of Perry; a sister, Sandra Romine (Ernest) of Lake City; and half-siblings, Nancy Gilpin, Lloyd Gilpin and Ralph Gilpin, all of Starke; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by: her parents, L.E. Gilpin and Callie Mae Mills; husband, Boyd Clark; a sister, Janet Gilpin; a granddaughter, Angie Mae Denmark; and a greatgrandson, Chase Ruffner. Funeral services for Mrs. Clark were held Saturday, July 8, at 4 p.m., in the Burns Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Perry with Brother Jeffrey Sadler officiating.
