    Francesco ‘Frank’ Guy Barberine

    Francesco “Frank” Guy Barberine, the son of Pietro and Gaetana (Andino) Barberine was born May 27, 1934, in Captina, W. Va., and passed away after a long battle with coronary arterial disease on June 13, 2023. He was 89. Frank was a baptized Christian and a member of the Ash Street Church of Christ. He graduated high school in Ravenna, Ohio, in 1952. He worked with his father logging and also worked on a celery farm during his school years. Frank was a veteran, serving with the Army National Guard in Ohio (tank company 1st BN 107 8 RND CAV). He was a manager and supervisor with Woolworth, and opened his own store, “Barberine Variety” along with a drapery, blinds and carpet business, working with many businesses and hospitals. He invented and patented a device to aid in the accuracy and speed in installation. Frank was an elected member of the Board of Trustees of Public Affairs in Arcanom, Ohio. He was an avid golfer, clog dancer, enjoyed fishing and refurbishing electronics. Frank was always helping someone with anything that needed to be done. He enjoyed re-inventing anything that needed fixing. Frank was preceded in death by his grandson, Ty Carl Barberine. He is survived by: his life companion, Christine Desourdy; sister, Carmella Hoskins; sons, Leon Desourdy and Mark and Scott Barberine; grandchildren, Cade and Cara Barberine; nieces, Glenna Seely, Becky Black and Annabell Kelly; nephews, Bill and Jimmy Burton, Billy Black and Bobby Black; grandnephew, Justin Seely; and grandnieces, Jessie Shirley and Loren Burton; as well as many extended family members and friends. Memorial services, officiated by Theo Elam, will be held Saturday, July 29, at The Timbers of Perry (1148 North Helen Street) with military honors beginning at noon. Everyone is invited to arrive between 11-11:30 a.m. A buffet lunch will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the “Blessing Box” at First United Methodist Church.
