    Billie Marie Roberts Byrd

    Billie Marie Roberts Byrd, passed away on July 24, 2023, at her home in Perry, Florida. Billie was born April 29, 1929, in McNeil, Ark., to John Tully Crumpler and Dean Derrick Crumpler. Billie loved bowling, playing basketball and enjoyed watching Florida State Seminoles football. She was a member of her Arkansas high school basketball state championship team and later played basketball for Arkansas State. Billie especially enjoyed being with her family. She liked watching her grandchildren, who called her “Nana,” play sports. She also enjoyed the holidays, cooking and playing Bunco with her friends. Billie ran her family store (Roberts’ Grocery) for about 30 years. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Tully and Dean Crumpler; her first husband, Joseph Alton Roberts; her second husband, Joseph Curtiss “Tack” Byrd; and one brother, Tommy Ray Reddick. She is survived by two children, Janice Jo Nola (Terry) and David Wayne Roberts Sr. (Inda); six grandchildren, Chris Nola (Kam), Jonathan Nola, Katherine Nola, Kelly Irick (Daniel), David Roberts, Jr., (Sally) and Joseph Roberts; six great-grandchildren, Nick Nola, Phoebe Nola, Kaitee Roberts, Trey Roberts, Morgan Roberts and Caiden Roberts; one brother, Jimmy Crumpler (Loretta); and two sisters Carol Wallace (Steve) and Bobbi Ann Tabor; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her faithful canine companion, Molly. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry, with Pastor Justin Goins officiating. Interment services will in Pineview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:15 until 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
