Rose Mary Demps Rose Mary Demps, 79, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, in Tallahassee. She was born Jan. 4, 1944, in Perry to James Candis and Rosa Mae (King) Candis. She was a 1961 graduate of Jerkins High School. She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida A&M University. She worked as an educator in the Jefferson County, Madison County and Taylor County school systems for 38 years. Rose was a true Servant of God, a faithful member of New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church and a pillar of the community. She is survived by: her husband of 47 years, Harry Demps; children, Ingrid Williams, Kelby Williams, Harry Lamar Demps and Devin Demps; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Ruffin (Lawrence); and a host of brothers-in-law, sistersin-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, from 5-7 p.m. at New Brooklyn M.B. Church. A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive M.B. Church. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
