    Consolidated cuts impact local employees

    Operations Manager Randy Newman (44 years) and Installation & Repair (IR) Tech Doug Walker (43 years) walked out together on their last day of work on Friday, July 28, after more than four decades working together for what began as Gulf Telephone Company and later transitioned to GT Com, Fairpoint Communications and Consolidated Communications.

    Friday, July 28, marked the end of an era for Taylor County telecommunications, as two longtime employees with a combined 87 years of service retired as part of cost management steps taken by Consolidated Communications.
