Yonna C. Pitts

Yonna C. Pitts, 77, passed away on Aug. 16, 2023 in Perry.

She was born June 13, 1946 in Perry to Ivy Connell and Ellie Ellison Connell.

Mrs. Pitts was of the Christian faith and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Yonna was very involved with her church, always ready to help in whatever capacity they may need.

She had a talent for upholstering furniture.

In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard or hunting and fishing. She loved to watch Gunsmoke and Walker Texas Ranger.

She will lovingly be remembered as Memaw. She cherished her family and loved the times they spent together.

Yonna was preceded in death by: her husband, Fairley Pitts Sr.; her daughter, Mellissa Griner; her grandson,Tyler Pitts; her parents, Ivy and Ellie Connell; her brothers, JC Connell, Junior Connell, Gene Connell and Wayne Connell; and her sisters, Louise Morgan, and Wanda Kemp.

Mrs.Pitts is survived by: her son, Fairley Pitts Jr.; her grandchildren, Dustin (Ashley) McCormick, Trey Pitts, Savannah (Collin) Bilyou, Drake Griner, Lacey Pitts and Rylee Koerner; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Pitts, Kylie Crowley, Madelyn McCormick, Carson Pitts and Ace Bilyou; her son-in-law, Richard Griner; and her sister-in-law, Lavaughn Smith; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Brother Billy Gipson officiating. Interment services will follow in Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
