Dutchella ‘Ruby’ La Rue Benton

Dutchella “Rudy” La Rue Benton, 74, passed away on Aug. 17, 2023, in Perry.

Rudy was born Feb. 18, 1949, in Perry to Shorty Benton and Edna Loreen Brannen Benton.

She thoroughly enjoyed collecting NASCAR memorabilia, especially Dale Earnhardt #3.

She was of the Christian faith and was a member of Antioch Revival Center.

Rudy worked as the department head manager at K-Mart.

She also enjoyed cooking at the church. In her spare time, you could find her mowing the lawn.

Rudy was preceded in death by: her parents, Shorty and Edna Loreen Benton; the love of her life, Ruthie Musselwhite; and two brothers, Barney Benton and Hershel Benton.

She is survived by: her siblings, Wine Nett Wilson, Whella Cannon, Sherrill Benton (Judy) and Viddie Wallace (Doug); sisters-in-law, Beth Benton and Deborah Benton; and a granddaughter; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. at Antioch Revival Center with Brother Cricket Watson officiating. Interment services followed in Pisgah Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, at Antioch Revival Center.
