Less than three weeks after taking a direct hit from a category 3 hurricane, Taylor County was struck with a much more devastating blow on Monday, Sept. 18, when Georgia-Pacific – the county’s single-largest employer and taxpayer – announced plans to “permanently close” the local Foley Cellulose mill.
