Doris Louise Brannen, also known as “Momma D,” 79, passed away on Sept. 17, 2023, at her home in Perry. She was born Jan. 28, 1944, in Perry to John H. Tomlinson and Ruby V. Tomlinson. Doris was a wife and a devoted, hard-working mother. She loved her family dearly. She worked in the garden department at Walmart for 19 years and enjoyed working with flowers. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her sisters. She also had a love for animals, especially her four dogs, Whitey, Brownie, Precious and Miss B., and her two cats, Jughead and Red. Doris was preceded in death by: her first husband, Cleveland Spradley Sr.; her second husband, Wiley Brannen; her parents, John H. and Ruby Tomlinson; her sister, Evelyn Jones; and her brother, Sammy Wayne Tomlinson. She is survived by: five children, Terrie Churchill (Rick), Tammy Knight (Scott), Cleveland Spradley Jr. (Casey), Sharon Shasteen (Daniel) and Jason Spradley (Erinn); 15 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; four greatgreat grandchildren; two brothers, John Enoch and Eddie; and three sisters Loretta, Margaret and Norma Jean; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 10 a.m. at Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship with Brother Eddie Pridgeon officiating. Interment services followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
