William “Bill” Franklin Outland, 89, passed away Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Perry.
Bill was born on Sept. 13, 1934, in Woodland, N.C., to Wilford and Mary Outland. He moved to Perry from his hometown in 1956. He loved to work with his hands, including making knives, building furniture and taking photographs.
He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish.
He was a 32-degree Mason and enjoyed being a ham radio operator. He was an avid reader and would read multiple books a day. He attended New Home Baptist Church in Perry.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Frank Outland; and sister, Peggy Outland.
He is survived by: his wife, Dot Outland; five daughters, Dell Hoyt of Florida, Mary Lee Marteliz (Angel) of Tampa, Donna Mathews (Tim) of Fort Valley, Ga., Melanie Holt of Jacksonville and Wendy Poag (Joe) of Yulee; 10 grandchildren, Frank, Sydney, Brandon, Alex, Tyler, Tanner, Josh, Ross, Sami and Addison; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Beggs Funeral Home Perry Chapel, 201 W. Main Street, on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Big Bend Hospice.
