City passes budget amidst uncertainty over mill’s impact

Faced with an unknown revenue shortfall that could rise to nearly $1 million due to the closure of the Georgia-Pacific (GP) Foley Cellulose Mill, the city council made several changes before adopting a final 2023-24 fiscal year budget last Tuesday, Sept. 25.
