On Sept. 30, 2023, Ralph Dewayne Bratcher, 66, passed away in Tallahassee unexpectedly.
Dewayne was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Foley to Ralph and Marlene Bratcher.
He served in the U.S. Army and the Florida National Guard. He was stationed in Germany while in the Army.
Dewayne retired from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) in 2012 after more than 20 years. He worked the last 15 years of his career as a narcotics investigator with his brother-in-arms, Mike Anderson.
He was head security at Iron Horse Mud Ranch and was definitely in his element. He was an avid hunter and angler, and a member of Camp Misery Hunting Club.
He enjoyed life and would help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family, especially Sarah Kay.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marlene Bratcher, and his brother Benny.
He is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Barbara K Bratcher; his son, Jason Bratcher and his wife, Avis; two grandchildren, Sarah Kay Bratcher and Kristopher Damian Bratcher; three brothers, Micky Bratcher, Ricky Bratcher and his wife, Laurie, Jonathan Bratcher and his wife, Jackie; and two sisters, Susie and her husband, Donald Blue, and Sonya Williams.
He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. at God’s House of Prayer, 507 Granger Drive, in Perry.
