Charles ‘Rusty’ Russell Deese

Charles “Rusty” Russell Deese, 65, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 29, 2023, in Tallahassee.

He was born Sept. 28, 1958, in Jacksonville to Carl R. Deese and Lucille Kersey Deese.

Rusty thoroughly enjoyed being a paramedic in Taylor County, as well as working in the Winn Dixie bakery. He loved to cook. His specialty was baking birthday cakes, with each being decorated specifically for the birthday person.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl R. Deese and Lucille Kersey Deese; and one sister, Linda Alan.

Mr. Deese is survived by: his sisters, Cheryl May, Cynthia (Frankie Spooner) Hodges, Cathy (Kenneth Abplanalp) Horn and Sarah (James) Meade; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service was held on Monday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. at Pisgah Cemetery with Brother Dennis Nobles officiating.
