Mrs. Dot Outland, 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at her home in Perry. She was born on Oct. 10, 1939, in Madison to Clarence Pickles and Eva Carter Pickles. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, baking and gardening. The Saturday before her passing, the girls took her out fishing one last time. She loved to make quilts for everyone and even made quilts for Hospice for many years. She was an avid bowler and was in a bowling league in Tallahassee. Mrs. Outland was preceded in death by: her parents, Clarence and Eva Pickles; her sister, Ruby Andrews; and her beloved husband, Bill Outland. She is survived by: her three daughters, Donna Outland Mathews (Tim) of Ft. Valley, Ga., Melanie Outland Holt of Jacksonville and Wendy Outland Poag (Joe) of Yulee; her sister, Geraldine Aman of Eridu; six grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Ross, Josh, Sami and Addison; and five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Cooper, Ava, Wayne and Jasper; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Beggs Perry Chapel, 201 W. Main Street.
