Harvey Benjamin Tuten

Mr. Harvey Benjamin Tuten, better known as Pete to all of his family and friends passed away on Dec. 8, 2023, in Dothan, Ala. He was 91.

Pete was born July 21, 1932, in Madison to Chris Tuten and Sallie Estelle Carter Tuten.

He married Janice Hayes in Perry in 1972 and they started their life together.

Pete worked as a supervisor with the Taylor County Road Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and building things.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Essie Tuten, and a son, Tommy Tuten.

Pete is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Janice Tuten of Perry; one son, Benjye Tuten (Gail) of Perry; one brother, Tommie Tuten of Dowling Park; his beloved mother-in-law, Reba Hayes of Lake Bird; seven grandchildren, Keith, Wendy, Chandler, Ben, Mandy, Will and Michelle; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. in the Burns Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Perry with the Rev. Wallace Holmes officiating. Interment followed in Lake Bird Methodist Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
