    Patricia ‘Pat’ Brannen Vail

    Patricia (Pat) Brannen Vail passed away Oct. 29, 2023, in Lake Worth after a lengthy illness.

    She was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Jesup, Ga., the daughter of Paul Fleming Brannen and Agnes Olivia (Mcleod) Brannen of Perry.

    Pat graduated from Taylor County High School (TCHS) in 1957, attended Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and obtained her undergraduate degree (1961) in education.

    She taught various grade levels during her years teaching in the Jackson County School District in Marianna, where she was named “Teacher of the Year” in 1998.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Vail.

    She is survived by: her daughter, Kim Pylant Silvers, husband, Ken, and grandchildren, Christian, Matt and his wife, Angela, of Gillsville, Ga.; son, Chris Brannen Pylant, and his wife, Sarah Belter-Pylant of Lake Worth; brother, Joseph P. Brannen and his spouse, John Bittinger Klomp of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sharon Vail of Marianna; sister-in-law, Kathy McCall of Greenville, S.C.; and brother-in-law, Tom Vail of Gainesville.

    She will be interred with her parents in Perry, later in the winter or spring of 2024.
