    James Lee ‘J.L.’ Grantham

    James Lee “J.L.” Grantham finished his race in this life on Dec. 10, 2023, with his

    family by his side.

    J.L. was born on March 6, 1938, to John Bethel “Sonny” Grantham and Americas Lorilla Dixon in Taylor County. He was the second born out of five children.

    J.L. was an avid outdoorsman that spent most of his younger days, dog hunting at Spring Creek and catching mullet out of Spring Warrior.

    He most notably worked at Procter & Gamble/Buckeye Cellulose as a woodyard operator.

    He will be forever remembered as a man who loved his family and was proud of the children he had

    raised.

    J.L. was preceded in death by: his father, Sonny; mother, Americas; brother, Larry;

    brother-in-law, Kenneth; and sister-in-law, Mary Lee.

    He is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Annette King Grantham; brothers, Clyde Grantham (Linda) and Billy Grantham (Christine); sister, Faye Ward; and children, Tammy McMullen (Alvin), Shelia Sadler (Louis) and James Grantham (Cheryl).

    He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Viewing will be held Dec. 15, from 1-2 p.m. at Spring Warrior Church of Christ, followed by a graveside beginning at 2 p.m. at the Spring Warrior Church of Christ Cemetery.

    Funeral arrangements will be handled by Joe P. Burns Funeral Home.
