Cornell “Mr. C” Douglas Silveira, 77, passed away on Dec. 23, 2023, in Perry. He was born July 23, 1946, in Pine Point, Maine, to Michael Silveira and Ada Turner Silveira. Cornell moved to Jacksonville in 1971, where he and his wife, Alice, owned and operated Cornell’s Automotive for 20-plus years. He and his wife loved traveling to the Bahamas on their 40-foot Post boat called Wonderland. While in the Bahamas, they enjoyed big game fishing and conch hunting. They both retired to Cedar Island in Perry, where he spent time fishing, golfing and taking Alice scalloping. Even in retirement, he still enjoyed working on boats at Keaton Beach Marina alongside his best buddy, Jerry. Cornell was preceded in death by: his wife, Alice F. Silveira; his son. Gene Jones; his parents, Michael and Ada Silveira; brother, Michael Silveira; and his sister, Betty Winters. He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer (Luke) Ford and Deana (Richard) Carr; his bonus son/nephew, Dan (Emily) Campobasso; his sisters, Nancy Smith and Paulette Smith; his bonus brother, Jerry Cawthon; his grandchildren, Shawna (Adam) Roher, Dallas Nelson, Haley (Josh Padgett) Ford, April (Travis) Duggan, Brandy (Keith) Griffin, Heather McCoy, Trey Jones and Shelby Jones; and eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Titan. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Brother Justin Goins officiating.
