    Richard Edgar “Rick” Miller

    Richard Edgar “Rick” Miller, 67, passed away on Jan. 27, 2024, in Tallahassee. Richard was born Oct. 28, 1956, in Brookville, Pa. to Martin T. Miller Sr. and Helena Levan Plyler Miller. Rick and his wife, Cindy, moved to Perry, Fla. to enjoy their retirement years in 2021. They also enjoyed their home in Mayville, New York. Rick attended Sherman Central School in Sherman, New York. Rick worked in the oil and gas industry for 41 years, including stints with Templeton Energy Inc. in Westfield, NY, Vineyard Oil & Gas of North East, Pa., Eastern Energy Group Inc. of Lexington, Ky., and Stedman Energy Inc. of Chautauqua, NY. He thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride working in the oil and gas field. He also worked for Chautauqua County Government in Mayville, NY for two years as a cleaner. He will be remembered for his work ethic and outgoing personality. He loved his family and was so proud of them. In his spare time, you could find him fishing on Lake Erie, Pa. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and fourwheeling with family and friends. He was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Martin T. Miller Sr.; and his stepmother, Barbara A. Miller. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cindy Miller; his children, Richard A. Miller (Leigh Britton) of Mayville, NY and Katelynn M. (Jacob) Bartelt of Erie, Pa.; his grandchildren, Kathryn Cox of Jamestown NY, Kerri Syper of Mayville, NY, Kallie Britton of Mayville, NY, Alexis Jacobson of Mayville, NY, Wyatt Kotta of Stockton, NY, Mackennzie and Tanner Kenny, and Owen and Anna Bartelt of Erie, Pa.; a great grandchild, Wrenley Ramsey of Jamestown, NY; his mother, Helena L. Miller of Gray Court, S.C,; his siblings, Martin T. (Mary Miller Jr. of North East, Pa., Ronald (Dawn) Miller of Mayville, NY, Donna Miller of Jamestown, NY and Nancy O’Brien of Aiken, S.C.; his half-siblings, Tamara (Mark) Fiebelkorn of Randolph, NY, Vicki Reynolds of South Dayton, NY, Terri Houghwot of Randolph, NY, Dustin (Chris) Miller of Kennedy, NY, Sandy Pearson of Fountain Inn, S.C., Betty Decker of Jamestown, NY and John Beeman of Gray Court, S.C.; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends. He also will be sadly missed by his dog, Mercedez “Sadie.” A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
