Mrs. Lillian J. Markey, 80, of Perry, Fla., passed away Feb. 4, 2024. An angel on earth, Lillian was born Oct. 28, 1943, to Helen and Alvey Stewart in Pittsburgh, Pa. Lillian was a 50-year member of The Church of God, serving the Lord in His churches as a deaconess and licensed minister. She worked as a waitress at Wolfy’s in Ocala, Fla. for several years, as well as Howard Johnson’s in Perry. Lillian loved to play games, attend church, spend time with her family. Her favorite color was blue. Lillian never met a stranger. The moment she met you, you immediately became like family to her. To know Lillian, was to know true and genuine love. She was, and will always be, a ray of sunshine. Mrs. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Michael W. Markey Sr., and son James “Jimmy” E. Markey; her parents: Helen Stewart and Alvey Stewart; her siblings: Lois Gates, Barbara Henery, Florence Smith and David Stewart. She is survived by her six kids: Carissa M. Peake (husband Donnie) of Travelers Rest, S.C., Sonja C. Smith (husband Rick) of Ocala, Michael W. Markey Jr. (fiancé Jan) of Perry, Stacey L. Remmele (husband Michael) of Ocala, Bryon W. Burge (wife Erin) of Ocala, Scott Markey (wife B.J.) of Perry; her siblings: Richard Stewart of Pittsburgh, Jim Stewart of Williston, Wayne Gates of Pittsburgh, Robert “Bobby” Gates of Pittsburgh, Kenny Morter of Pittsburgh, Carol Martinez of San Antonio, Tex., and Helen Chase of Harrisburg, Pa.; 21 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at Evangel Christian Fellowship Church at 1454 N. Courtney Rd. in Perry with Rev. Justin Webb and Pastor Andy Merry officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday before the service.
