Is your child over weight? Under?

With Florida Surgeon General Dr. John Armstrong putting an emphasis on the statewide “Healthiest Weight” initiative, Taylor County parents could receive letters within the next month notifying them that their child is over or underweight.

According to Rachel LaValle, RN, school health coordinator at the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) in Taylor County, the letters will result from vision, hearing, height and weight examinations given to students in kindergarten, first, third and sixth grades.
