Roger Dale Ward, 74, passed away on Feb. 16, 2024, at his home in Perry.
He was born May 10, 1949, in Owensboro, Ky., to Francis Marion Ward and Mae Lucille Hust Ward.
Roger honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
After serving in the military, he moved to Immokalee, went to work on Marco Island and ran heavy equipment.
He then worked for Johnson Brothers at their packing facility in Immokalee.
He finished his career working for the Collier County Fair as a maintenance supervisor, but his greatest love was family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Lucille Ward, and seven of his nine siblings.
He is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Ann Ward; three children, Bodie (Rhonda) Ward, Chad (Brittany) Ward and Amber (Robert) Cherry; eight grandchildren, Caleb, Cayla, McCoy, Tyler, Colton, Aubrie, Richard and LeBron; seven great-grandchildren, Adriana, Christian, Camden, Everleigh, Anna, Cannon and Stella; his sister, Sally Moore; and his brother, Pete Ward; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at Tallahassee National Cemetery with Brother Bill Meacham officiating.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at his home on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m.
All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
