Although the local Georgia-Pacific pulp mill is no longer pumping an estimated 36 million gallons of water per day from the aquifer, the plant’s closure has had a relatively mild impact on local water levels so far, according to initial modeling efforts from the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD).
