18th annual short story contest open

The Friends of the Taylor County Public Library are now accepting entries for its 18th annual Short Story Contest.

Categories include: youth (fifth graders and below); students (sixth-12th graders); and adult.Cash prizes will be awarded in each category: first place, $100; second place, $50; and honorable mention, $10.

The entry fee is $5 per story, and the deadline for submissions is Friday, April 5, at 5:30 p.m. Winners will be announced Friday, May 24. Guidelines are available at the Taylor County Public Library at 403 N. Washington St.
