    New bridge now open

    Posted on January 10, 2014

Traffic was shifted onto the new U.S. 98 bridge over the Aucilla River at the Taylor and Jefferson County line late Monday.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to replace the old bridge, built in 1952, began in October 2012. The new bridge replaces the main span and relief bridge with a structure that is a quarter of a mile long and 14 feet higher than the original bridges. The new bridge has two 12-foot travel lanes and two 10-foot emergency lanes with a solid concrete barrier on both sides.
