Arthur Jones “A.J.” Hoiles III

Arthur Jones “A.J.” Hoiles III of Whigham, Ga., passed peacefully at home under the pecan trees in the presence of family on Feb. 28, 2024.

A.J. was born in Alliance, Ohio, on July 4, 1957, to Arthur Jones Hoiles Jr. and Carol Louise Merwin.

He worked for many years as a swimming pool contractor in Perry and was known for having an intelligence with his hands that extended to woodworking. He was regarded for his quick wit and gentleness.

Survivors include his three daughters and one son, Rachel Farrell (Nick) of Whigham, Miriam Wright of Whigham, Kathryn McMurdo (Dave) of San Jose, Calif., and Arthur Hoiles (Mariah) of Clarksville, Tenn.

He is additionally survived by eight beautiful granddaughters, as well as his siblings: Beth Watson of Orlando, Bobby Heffner (Amy) of Sebring and Katie Hoskins of Greer, S.C.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Linda and Fred Gunter of Perry for their support during this time.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
