Judy Merlene Akins

Judy Merlene Akins, 70, passed away at her home on March 11, 2024, in Perry. Judy was born May 26, 1953, in Perry to Arthur Bullard Cochran Jr. and Merlene Hendry Cochran. Judy Akins was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed being with her family and helping others around her. She had a beautiful soul that could bring the best out of anybody and could put a smile on anyone’s face. Judy was preceded in death by: her parents, Arthur and Merlene Cochran; her husband, Danny Akins; and her two brothers, Wayne Cochran and Gary Cochran; as well as ex-husband, Charles Wayne Flores. Mrs. Akins is survived by: her children, Anthony Brad Flores of Perry and Christopher Todd Flores of San Francisco; one sister, Linda Cochran Sellers of Leesburg, Ga.; and brother, David Cochran of Perry. She is also survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m. in Boyd United Methodist Church in Boyd. Interment services followed at Boyd United Methodist Church Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
