Joseph Donald “Dude” Brumbley, 75, peacefully passed away at his home in Lamont on April 3, 2024. Born on Aug. 16, 1948, in Monticello to John Christopher Brumbley and Hazel Stokes Brumbley, Donald was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
He found joy in fishing, hunting and spending quality time at home. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Having dedicated more than 30 years of his life to Florida State University (FSU), Donald retired from his position there in 1998.
Donald was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, David Brumbley; and sister, Diane Roberts.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 40 years, Frances C. Brumbley; his son, Donald Brumbley; daughters, Lynn Thomas (David) and Shanna Turner (Brandon); son, Edward Walker (Theresa); siblings, Danny Brumbley (Doris), Dale Brumbley, Dolores Flowers (Leon), Debbie Joyner, Doyle Brumbley (Terry) and Dennis Brumbley (Debbie).
He leaves behind a legacy through his 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and others who held him dear as family.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Donald’s life will take place on Wednesday, April 17, at 2 p.m. in Wacissa at Beth Page Cemetery. It will be officiated by Katie Brock.
Beggs Funeral Home of Monticello has been entrusted with the arrangements.
