    Myrtis ‘Corine’ Murphy Karageorge

    Myrtis “Corine” Murphy Karageorge, 92, of Steinhatchee went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 15, 2024.

    She was also known as Moma, Aunt Rine and Ya (Greek for Grandma). She was born in Steinhatchee on Aug. 3, 1931, to Sidney and Ethel Poppell Murphy. Ms. Corine was a lifelong resident of Steinhatchee who married Roy Karageorge in 1950.

    Together they built a family and founded Roy’s Restaurant in 1969. They owned and operated the restaurant until selling it in 2004. Ms. Corine was a faithful wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver.

    She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Steinhatchee. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by: her son, George (Sabrina) Karageoge, and daughter, Anna Oglesby, all of Steinhatchee; dear friend (ex-son in law), David Oglesby (Chelsea)of Old Town; grandsons,

    Derek (Joanna) Karageorge and Shawn Oglesby; great-grandson, Hunter Karageorge; three nieces; multiple step-nieces; and nephews of the Wood family; and well as many extended family members and friends. Ms. Corine was preceded in death: by her parents; her husband, Roy; sister, Sidney Murphy McCall Hilliard; niece, Melanie McCall Stewart; stepfather, Wilton Wood; stepbrother, Rudolph Wood; and multiple nieces and nephews of the Wood family.

    A graveside memorial for Ms. Corine will be held Saturday, April 27, at 5 p.m. At Waters Memorial Gardens, located at Steinhatchee Cemetery.
