    Posted on May 24, 2024

Miriam Janie Massey, 90, of Perry passed away on May 22, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her friends and family.

Janie was born Jan. 2, 1934, to A.J. and Grace Ezell.

Janie went on to graduate from Taylor County High School in 1951.

She spent many years working for Dr. Rawls, and serving her Lord and Savior on mission trips to Honduras and Nicaragua.

Janie also oversaw the Lord’s work running “Our Father’s Storehouse” for many years.

She was a lifelong Southern Baptist and member of New Home Baptist Church.

In 1949, she met Harry and the two were inseparable from that point on. Janie and Harry were married for more than 50 years. They had four children, Montine, Lloyd, Mike and Mark Massey.

Janie was a dedicated mom and grandmother who was lovingly referred to as “Nannie” by all.

Family came first and was above all else to Janie, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Janie was proceeded in death by: her husband, Harry Massey; her parents, A.J. and Grace Ezell; her sister, Dixie Baxley; brother, Ted Ezell; and grandson, Josh Massey.

She is survived by: her brother, Billy (Karen) Ezell; her children, Montine Flail, Lloyd (Karen) Massey, Mike Massey and Mark (Cheryl) Massey; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 24, at New Home Baptist Church, at 11 a.m. with Dustin Logan and Marc Pargo officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 8415 Buck Lake Rd, Tallahassee, FL, 32317.
