Alice Marilyn Murphy, 81, of Perry passed away on May 27, 2024, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by family.
She was born Nov. 21, 1942, to G.C. (Buster) and Acquilla Hunter.
Alice was a graduate of Taylor County High School.
She spent much of her life as wonderful homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong Baptist and member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In 1961, she met Wallace Murphy, and they built a life together over the next 47 years.
Alice was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.
While most knew her as Alice, she was also “Nanny,” “Granny Alice” and “Aunt Chot.” Her family was her entire world.
She spent her time ensuring everyone was always taken care of. Her greatest pleasures were her grandchildren, baking and attending church.
Alice was proceeded in death by: her husband, Wallace Murphy; her parents, G.C. (Buster) and Acquilla Hunter; and her sister, Eleanor Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Steve (Donna) Murphy, Lisa (Michael) Roberts and Ronald Murphy; 10 grandchildren, Brian Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Storme Holley, Raegan Arnold, Cassidy Roberts, Trad Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Lily Cameron, Kyler Murphy, Aiden Murphy and Faith Murphy; five great-grandchildren; and last. but not least, her sisters. Delores (Kermit) Hammock and Gale (Bubba) Sisk.
She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, at 11 a.m., at Burns Funeral Home with Brother James Nowell officiating.
Interment will follow at Pineview Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, May 30, from 6-8 pm. At Burns Funeral Home.
