    FFA requests city allow them to house livestock at schools

    The school district needs a city zoning change or special exception in order to improve and expand its livestock enclosures for students in the local agriculture class and Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. “Kali” and “Sweetie Pie” (above) were the only members of the high school’s prize-winning goat herd to survive a dog attack in April.

    The City of Perry is attempting to find a “narrow carve out” to existing zoning and land use rules that would allow local schools to house livestock on school property for use in an existing Agriculture course, as well as by students in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) program.
