Daniel Vernon Hudson, 77, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Tallahassee at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Born to Tom and Lucy (Sapp) Hudson, on Aug. 1, 1947, Danny grew up in the Salem area, graduating from Salem School, with two other classmates before being drafted into the United States Army and serving for two years in Vietnam.
Danny was the only survivor of his squad, and exhibited supreme bravery in the most difficult situations.
He was proceeded in death by: his mother and father; brother, Scooter Hudson; sister, Ida Lou Stephens; and grandson, Nate Hudson.
Danny is survived by: his loving wife of 54 years, Wanda Hudson; sons, David (Sheryl) Hudson of Perry and Darrell (Alison) Hudson of Old Town; brother, BM (Connie) Hudson of Salem; three grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Danny always enjoyed picking at his friends and making joked, keeping the mood light and laughter going.
He will be sorely missed as he was very respected and loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Joesph Straub and Pastor Doug Cobb. Interment services will follow at Woodyard Cemetery, located on Tower Road in Salem.
The family received friends Monday, July 8, from 5-8 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
