A driver who told officers he swerved to miss a dog crossing the highway crashed head-on into a power pole Monday morning, July 8, near the intersection of Highway 19 and Willow Street. The resulting damage to the power pole resulted in 300 customers – including most of the businesses located on the east side of Jefferson Street in downtown Perry and the Perry Police Department office – to be without power for several hours.
