The 12 new teachers waited with bated breath for the district’s newest assistant principal to be introduced.

“We knew he was single…when we went in–and he knew all of us were there–he had this real stern look on his face. I told Lou (my roommate) ‘Man, I’m getting out of this race. He is the meanest looking man I’ve ever seen in my life!’

“I married him that summer. That was August 1947 and I married him Aug. 1, 1948.”

Mr. Woodell was principal at Taylor County High School and Mrs. Woodell taught English and history. She will be honored on the occasion of her 90 birthday Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Methodist church with a reception from 2-4 p.m. She asks “no presents, please.”
