Beverly Jean Battillo, 73, passed away on July 13, 2024, in Perry. She was born Sept. 9, 1950, in Cleveland, Ga., to William Hiram Underwood and Ida Underwood. Sue Burke Beverly was a Baptist and a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, and this was evident in her love for her family, friends and anyone who came in contact with her. In 1972, Beverly received her degree from the University of Florida in forest management, then she began work as a forest manager in Taylor County. She became the first female forester hired by Buckeye Cellulose Corporation and worked in the field until she became a mom. She would want to be remembered most for being a loving wife and mother. She loved and supported her husband over many years and taught her daughters how to be strong, caring women of faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading many books, cooking delicious meals and finding ways to care for friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, William “Papa Bull” and Ida “Winnie” Underwood. She is survived by: her husband of 50 years, Rick Battillo; two daughters, Sarah Stewart (Shaun) and Emily Revels (Cole); two grandsons, Kolton and Mason Grambling; one grand-daughter, Marley Revels; her sister, Jenny Dietzel (Chris); her brotherin-law, Edward Battillo (Lisa); three nieces, Hannah Dietzel, Angela Battillo and Becky Battillo; and special family friends, Tina and Johnny “Buddy” Batton, Jenean McMullen and Ellen Yordan. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude for the many expressions of sympathy from our church family and community. A Celebration of Life service will be arranged for a later date.
