    Edna Sturdivant Sims

    Edna Sturdivant Sims, formally of Perry, passed away peacefully surrounded by her love ones on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her home in Tallahassee. Edna was 80 years young. She was born on Sept. 12, 1943, in Mayport. Edna worked at Maryland Assemblies and Martin Electronics a combination of 25 years before retiring and moving to Tallahassee in 2005. She was a homemaker. She loved to crochet, play on her tablet, spending time on Facebook, playing games and watching food sites and she especially loved her cats. She loved watching the ID channel, CNN and soap operas – she loved Victor Newman on The Young & The Restless. Edna was a huge Gator fan. She is survived by: her husband of 18 years John Sims; her sister Ann Sturdivant, her daughter, Melanie Sturdivant Smith (Louie); her son, Billy Sturdivant; and her adopted daughter, Barbara Merry (Andy); as well as five grandchildren, Heather Tuttle (Andrew), Tony Sturdivant (Miriam), Olivia Williams (Robert), Vikki Bly (Brian) and Will Sturdivant; seven greatgrandsons, Hunter, Brent, Robbie, Logan, Mason, Lane, and Bryson; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Aria. Edna was preceded in death by: her former husband of 19 years, Bill Sturdivant; her sister, Doris Floyd; her father, Anthony J Mier Jr.; her mother, Annie McDowell; and her stepfather, Bill Mcdowell. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at Antioch Revival Center, located at 3808 Cash Road in Perry. If you would like to bring a covered dish, it will be greatly appreciated. We hope to see all her friends that she loved there on Saturday.
