    Posted on August 2, 2024

The family of Dereith Wray Dowers is saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Perry. Born on March 11, 1953, in Humboldt, Tenn., Dereith was a beloved daughter, sister, wife and mother. She will be remembered always for her kind heart, infectious laughter and her family that she so deeply loved. Dereith dedicated a major part of her life to the success of her former husband, Gregory Dowers, and his construction business they built together in Perry and Steinhatchee in the 1980’s and 1990’s. She was a devoted wife and business partner to Greg for 27 years and until his passing in 2008. But her greatest joy was being the mother of her sons, Greg and Gary, whom she loved and adored all of her days. Dereith was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lova Wray; her beloved sister, Melanie; and her former husband, Gregory Dowers. She is survived by: her two sons, Greg Wray (Vanessa) and Gary Dowers; her precious grandson, Atlas Jack; her baby sister, Jaki Wray Crouse (David); a very special niece, Elizabeth Cooper and her daughter, Makayla; and a nephew, Jeremy Cooper and his son, Luke. She also leaves behind a treasured grand-dog, Winston, and his cohorts & buddies – Max, Rose and Cocoa, whom she loved, laughed at and tended to daily for her son and niece. Dereith will be profoundly missed by all of us, including the pups. A graveside service to honor Dereith’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Perry. Although she may no longer be with us, Dereith will forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of her family and many friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and compassion that will never be forgotten. Dereith was a blessing in this world and to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
