Receive free packs of heirloom seeds Aug. 19

The Taylor County Public Library will host its annual Fall Seed Workshop Monday, Aug. 19, starting at 10 a.m.

Extension agents Lisa Strange and Lori Wiggins will discuss the art of growing heirloom seeds and enriching your gardening skills.

Each participant will receive five packs of heirloom seeds and valuable information on how to successfully grow them.

Available seeds will include (in limited quantities): beet, Detriot dark red; broccoli, green sprouting Calabrese; cabbage, Golden Acre; carrot, Chantenay red core; cauliflower, Snowball Y Improved; collard, Georgia Southern; kale, Lacinato; lettuce, Parrish Island romaine; radish, Cherry Belle; Rutabaga, American purple top; spinach, Bloomsdale; and turnip, purple top White Globe.
