VFW Post 9225 has released a schedule of events for the coming months, including a two-day “Salute to Veterans” event planned Sept. 6-7 at the Taylor Seniors Citizens Center.
Tickets are also available now for a gun raffle, with the winning ticket to be drawn Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.
Veteran volunteers will hold Buddy Poppy Drives on Aug. 31, Nov. 9, Feb. 8 and May 24 at Walmart.
The post meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Taylor Senior Citizens Center, located at 800 West Ash Street.

Thrift also encourages individuals and businesses who would like to sponsors the “Salute to Veterans” event.
“We are seeking sponsors for the following services: dental, medical, mental health, health and wellness, assistance with VA claims, cell phone education, free raffles, haircuts, financial counseling and suicide awareness, because 22 a day is 22 a day too many.
“We are asking for monetary donations, bottled water, refreshments, lunch, ink pens, carabineers, hand sanitizer, stress balls, pocket bibles, calendars, koozies, eye glass cleaning cloths, goodie bags, t-shirts and items for free raffles. Anything else you want to donate is appreciated,” Thrift said.
