Unemployment rate is lowest since 2008

Taylor County’s unemployment rate fell for the fifth straight month in December, dropping to 6.9 percent, the lowest rate since June 2008, when the county’s unemployment rate was 6.1 percent.

The rate has been falling since July, when it was 7.9 percent, dropping to 7.6 percent in August, 7.3 percent in September, 7.2 in October and 7.0 percent in November.
