The Taylor County School Board is considering hiring a debt collection service to help recoup money from Taylor Technical Institute (TTI) students who receive federal Pell grants but do not complete their programs.
TTI Director Judy Johnson told the board last week that if a student receives a Pell grant to attend TTI and does not complete at least 61 percent of the program, the district is required to pay those funds back to the federal Title IV program.
