    Willie Mae Walker

    Willie Mae Walker, a beloved member of the Perry community, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sept. 12, 2024.

    Born in Perry on Sept. 30, 1934, Willie Mae spent a fulfilling life dedicated to work in payroll and her cherished moments with family.

    Her love for tending to her flowers and being in her garden brought her immense joy and she found solace in her Faith as an active member of San Pedro Baptist Church.

    Willie Mae’s warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her surviving family members.

    She is survived by: her brothers, Curtis (Betty) Williams, Bummy (June) Williams and Charlie (Helena) Williams; and her sister, Sadie Lanier; sons, Richard (Charlotte), Rodney, Randy (Anita) and Rusty Walker; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends who reflect on the cherished moments shared with her.

    Willie was preceded in death by: her parents, Johnnie and Mattie Williams; her loving husband of 63 years, Oscar “Ed” Walker; her granddaughter, Audra Walker; and her brother, JT Williams.

    Funeral services to honor Willie Mae Walker’s life were held at San Pedro Baptist Church on Monday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. with Brother David Prevatt officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

    Interment services followed at San Pedro Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Willie Mae’s legacy will continue to shine through the lives she has influenced, and her spirit will forever be cherished.
