Historic Train Depot future is in jeopardy due to cost of repairs

The Historic Perry Station (Old Train Depot) located on Ellis Street downtown next to Rosehead Park has an uncertain future, as city officials struggle to justify the high costs of bringing the building up to code after its insurance company dropped coverage following damage to the roof caused by Hurricane Idalia. The Old Train Depot currently serves as a “business incubator” downtown and houses a coffee shop ( 105 Café & Coffee), florist (Rains Florist) and a massage studio (Kneading Relief Massage), as well as offices of the Taylor County Development Authority (TCDA).
The Perry City Council is facing a difficult decision on the future of the historic Perry Old Train Depot on Ellis Street adjacent to Rosehead Park in downtown Perry.
