Joyce Yvonne Winters, a beloved member of the Perry community, passed away on Sept. 20, 2024, at the age of 94.
Born on Jan. 21, 1930, in Perry, Von was a devoted homemaker who found joy in caring for her family and home.
She expressed herself through music, finding solace in playing the guitar and creating heartfelt songs. Her talent extended to sewing and quilting, activities that allowed her to showcase her creativity and passion.
Von cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enriching their lives with her warmth and love.
A faithful member of her church, Von’s kindness and compassion touched the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves behind: her beloved son, Jacky and his wife, Sarah Winters; her daughter, Betty Hathcock; her sister, Sylvia Williams; and her four grandchildren, Emily (Bart), Kristin (Steven), John and Joshua (Jenny); along with10 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Von was preceded in death by: her parents, Walter and Ola Mae Howell; her husband, Morris Winters; her daughter, Susan Winters; five brothers; and seven sisters.
Though she may have departed this world, Von’s spirit will live on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Let us celebrate her life, her legacy and the love she shared with all.
A funeral service to honor Von’s memory will be held at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. with Brother Cody McNeese officiating. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
