    Sherrill Baker Benton

    Sherrill Baker Benton, a cherished husband, father and respected member of the Perry community, passed away on Sept. 17, 2024, at the age of 73.

    Born on June 11, 1951, in Perry, Sherrill’s legacy of hard work, dedication and love will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

    Devoted to his family, Sherrill found joy in the simple pleasures of life. As an avid outdoorsman, he was at his happiest when hunting or running dogs in the great outdoors. His passion for these activities led him to serve on the board of Sandhill Hunting Club, where he forged lasting friendships and shared countless memorable experiences with fellow enthusiasts.

    In addition to his love for outdoor pursuits, Sherrill cherished spending quality time with his beloved wife, Judy Benton, and their son, Travis Benton; his sister, Wine-nett Wilson; and sister-in-law, Beth Benton.

    Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.

    Sherrill also found comfort and strength in the embrace of his church family, who provided him with unwavering support and spiritual guidance throughout his life.

    Sherrill was preceded in death by: his parents, Shorty Benton and Edna Benton; his brothers, Barney Benton and Hershell Benton; and his sister, Rudy Benton.

    A man of integrity and unwavering faith, Sherrill approached each day with a sense of purpose and gratitude. His warm smile, kind heart and generous spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

    To honor and celebrate the life of Sherrill Baker Benton, a public visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Revival Center with Brother Cricket Watson officiating. Following the visitation, a funeral service was held at the Antioch Revival Center at 3 p.m.

    Sherrill’s legacy of love, kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

    May his soul find peace and eternal rest in the presence of the divine, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
