Doris “Ernie” Ernestine Terry Sparkman, 68, passed away on Sept. 28, 2024, after an extended illnesses. She was born on April 11, 1956, in Lee to Ernest Terry and Doris Johnson Terry. Doris was well-known throughout Perry through clubs and organizations such as the Rotary Club, and her CPA business. She was a member of the Girl Scouts board. She thoroughly loved her children and grandchildren, and continued to play an active role in all of their lives. She attended First Methodist Church. Doris was married for 49 years to Kip Sparkman and loved every minute with him. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Ernest Terry and Doris Johnson Terry; her sister, Frances Grotefend; and one nephew, Glenn Jackson. She is survived by: her husband, Kenneth “Kip” Sparkman; her son, Eric Sparkman; her daughter, Erin Sparkman Gollinger (Adam); four grandchildren, Colby Sparkman, Hunter Sparkman, Ashlee Sparkman and Amelia Gollinger; her sister, Faye Browning; her brothers, William Terry and Richard Terry; her nieces and nephews, Ernie Terry, Henry Terry, LeAnne Kruse, Bailey Browning and William Jackson; and a host of great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry at 11 a.m. with Brother J.T. Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Doris’ family would like to have donations sent to the First Methodist Church of Perry for the Children’s Home.
