Our family is saddened by the passing of David Allan Parker on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, in Tallahassee. David was born in Perry on May 6, 1947, and lived here the last 40 years. He County Sports was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather to his two granddaughters. He served in the U. S. Army (19661969) during the Vietnam Era. Afterward, he attended McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, where he met Cathy (Reed). They were married in 1971. Dave loved football, which resulted in his becoming a football coach at various times for Taylor County’s Recreation Department for flag and tackle. His hobbies were working with his hands, and of late, clearing the land and mowing, which were enjoyable to him. He worked various construction jobs before becoming the City of Perry building inspector. Prior to his retirement, he was project manager for Taylor County, overseeing the construction of the Taylor Complex. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Louis and Ruthie Mae Parker; sister, Janice Connell; and nephew, Lewis Miller. Dave is survived by: his wife, Cathy; daughter, Shana Bratcher (Darren); son, Shawn; and granddaughters, Jade and Tenley. Poppa will be deeply missed and remembered always by those whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the chapel of Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship. Beggs Funeral Home Perry Chapel is handling arrangements 2258).
