    Addie “Merelyn” Grubbs

    Addie “Merelyn” Grubbs, 83, a resident of Tallahassee, passed away at her residence on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, in Tallahassee. Merelyn was born in Perry to Ernest Lincoln Grubbs and Lucy Ellen Grubbs on May 28, 1941. She retired in 1989 as the chief bureau of general services from the state of Florida after 30 years of service. Merelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tallahassee and volunteered many years for the Leon County Library where she received multiple volunteer awards. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt, as well as an avid reader and loved Florida State University (FSU) sports. Merelyn was preceded in death by: her father, Ernest Lincoln Grubbs; mother, Lucy Ellen Grubbs; brother, Lloyd Nolan Grubbs; sister-in-law, Reva Carrole Grubbs; and brother-in-law, G.D. Yon Jr. She is survived by: her sister, Frances Grubbs Yon of Marianna; niece, Lyn Yon (Robin) of Orlando; niece, DeAnne Yon Bruner (Travis) of Marianna; and niece, Sheryl Denise Hudson (David) of Perry; as well as many great nieces and nephews. Merelyn will be dearly missed by her family. In keeping with her wishes, she will be laid to rest at Pisgah Cemetery in Perry. A graveside service for Merelyn will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10-11 a.m. at Pisgah Cemetery.
