    Miriam Louvenia Smith

    Miriam Louvenia Smith of Perry passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, 2024, at the age of 71.

    She was born on July 4, 1953, in Lakeland to her loving parents, Joel Smith and Zelma O’steen. Miriam’s kind spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her.

    She dedicated her career to serving the Taylor County School District as a custodian. Her hard work and dedication were admired by colleagues and students alike.

    Outside of work, she found joy in sewing, creating beautiful arts and crafts, and had a special love for butterflies.

    She is preceded in death by: her father, Joel Smith; granddaughter, Jewel Brown; two brothers, Daniel and Buddy Smith; and one sister, Dynelle Smith.

    Miriam leaves behind: her beloved mother, Zelma O’steen; sons, Randall (Jennifer) Brown and Johnny Brown Jr.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty; and two brothers who were the lights of her life, Lindsey and Rawleigh.

    She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

    In honor of Miriam’s memory, a funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. At Burns Funeral Home to celebrate her life and legacy. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

    May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace as she watches over us all.
